Programs

Our curriculum at is based on the interests of each individual student and the interests of the community of students as a whole. We intentionally create space for organic learning experiences to happen. Students and staff are able to discover a JOY for learning among the enchanting natural setting.

Students will choose 2 to 4 topics to research each school year. They will start by researching, then scaffolding through the information, drafting writing pieces, and end with a final project. The final project is built based on the child's skill level. Students get the chance to become experts on their topics and gain confidence in their educational journey. 

Parents will receive reports on growth, academic and socially, twice a year. (Winter and Spring) Communication is extremely important in our effort to help each student succeed. As a team, we will work closely with your family to ensure growth and a joyful educational experience. 

Immersion in outdoor classrooms inspires students to understand and connect with the world around them using all five senses. We encourage curiosity, play, problem-solving, intrinsic motivation, and connection to the world around us. The ratio for inside/outside will be 80/20. We will come inside when the elements make it hard to sit and learn for more than 15 minutes.

Experiential Education makes learning real. Whether it is hatching chicken eggs in an incubator, planning and making a pollinator garden, baking bread together, or launching a community service project- the students of Flora and Fauna will always be working on something that engages all of their senses.
